Question: Anyone considered bugout to the swamps or boat at sea?
Anyone considered bugout to the swamps or boat at sea?
Suggestions/ Comments:
Watch out for the critters! And swamp monsters
I don't feel like I can keep myself in my family alive on a boat even if we did find some small island it would be hard to keep enough food water and fuel to keep going from Island and Island if I were to bug out on a boat it would be the Isle Royal on Lake Superior tons of moose and other food sources there
I did some swamp survival with locals n they had the plan. You do need knowledge of swamps n it was creeppy
U better prepare for bugs and mosquito
Depending on the scenario, the swamp is actually in my top 3 bug out locations. I’ve grown up in and hunted them for most of my life.
Totally depends on what type of bug out situation it is. I live in Southwest Florida, so I have contemplated both of those options. Really, you want multiple different plans for different scenarios.
Agree I have friends who have boats ready n packed, in fl, n in Canada west coast
If you are thinking about a boat or other watercraft, I recommend thinking about these things:
- navigation. Maps, compass, GPS, etc...
- repairs. tools and equipment needed for repairing your boat
- propulsion type. (I would suggest having multiple methods of propulsion)
- how you will store fuel and how will you obtain fuel
- shelter on the boat. How many people can sleep on the boat. How do you protect yourself from the weather.
- storage space on the boat. Food, equipment, etc..
- draft (depth the boat sits in the water)
I have a lake island in one of my scenario plans but not the swap nor ocean. Freshwater, seclusion, etc. All depends on why am I bugging out.
If I was within distance, I go quick, as you know you can make boat. Plenty food n water n so safe.
I have been to the bottom and top of the Everglades in Florida and there is a reason the last area the native American Indian hated it. The worst area is called hungryland sooth for a reason. Game doesn't have any fat, water needs to be boiled, bug bites and small cuts get infected over a short time. I recommend to take a few days and head out to where ever you are thinking of going. Books, TV and other forms of media romanticize about living off grid. PS I been in Florida for 20 years and spend a third of my year roaming around the back woods.
I agree not for unskilled. I to lived in fl in panhandle, for me it was fun, my bro was self taught survivalist in the swamps. Much different south fl then the panhandle. I wouldnt choose the south to bugout.
I agree. I would head to an area that has more resources, with more seasons for growing food and building materials
I can say, without a shred of doubt, I would rather be eaten by liberal zombies who graduated from Ohio State, then ever try to live in: A. Florida swamp, or B. Florida Walmart.
